Adam Lambert- his new music and his very eventful holiday season so far….

Sunday, December 6th, 2009

Adam has had a very eventful start to his holiday season. First there was the big launch of his real music career with his cd selling strong in its debut. Next- Adam performed on the American Music Awards and managed to piss off the execs at ABC and get himself banned from appearances on night time talk shows and daytime ones on ABC. He was on Letterman and most recently on Ellen and sort of apologized and explained himself. To this I have to say- WTF? Adam did well on American Idol as a ROCK singer. We voted for him because we want a ROCK STAR. Since when are rock icons ever supposed to be squeaky clean and perfect? We like them rough around the edges, wild and raucous. There is no place in real rock for mamby pamby boring- I hope Adam holds on to his edge and keeps on entertaining us for years to come.

Immediately following AMERICAN IDOL on Jan. 13 (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT), FOX unveils the not-to-be-missed series debut of OUR LITTLE GENIUS, a new unscripted series that features America’s most gifted kids as they are tested with some of the most challenging and difficult questions that only a remarkable little genius could answer.

The special primetime event concludes with the first installment of the pulse-pounding two-night, four-hour premiere of 24 (9:00-11:00 PM ET/PT). The season premiere of 24 clocks in for two more hours of action Monday, Jan. 18 (8:00-10:00 PM ET/PT), and the season premiere of HUMAN TARGET airs Wednesday, Jan. 20 (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) following AMERICAN IDOL (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT).

Then, Academy Award-nominated filmmaker Morgan Spurlock (Super Size Me, 30 Days) will present The Simpsons 20th Anniversary Special: in 3-D! on Ice! (8:30-9:30 PM ET/PT). The documentary special examines the global phenomenon that is THE SIMPSONS and serves as the momentous conclusion to the Best. 20 Years. Ever., a year-long global celebration of THE SIMPSONS that launched in January 2009.

Chef Gordon Ramsay steps out of his own kitchen to serve up a new season of KITCHEN NIGHTMARES on Friday, Jan. 29 (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT). Each week, Chef Ramsay will try to help turn around some of the most unsanitary and unsuccessful restaurants in New York, New Jersey, Florida and California on the verge of closing their doors forever.

PAST LIFE, a new drama series inspired by the book The Reincarnationist about detectives who investigate the world of the unexplained, will bow with a two-hour series premiere Thursday, Feb. 11 (8:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) and will make its time period premiere Thursday, Feb. 18 (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT).

SONS OF TUCSON, the new family comedy from Justin Berfield (Malcolm in the Middle), Emmy Award winner Todd Holland (Wonderfalls) and Matthew Carlson (Samantha Who?) about three young brothers who hire a charming, wayward schemer to stand in as their father when their real one goes to prison, debuts Sunday, March 14 (8:30-9:00 PM ET/PT).

AMERICAN IDOL sings on Tuesdays (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT) when it makes its time period premiere Jan. 19 followed by the time period premiere of OUR LITTLE GENIUS (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT), and 24 syncs up for its time period premiere Monday, Jan. 25 (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT).

“IDOL GIVES BACK” RETURNS AS PART OF “AMERICAN IDOL”

Friday, October 9th, 2009

“IDOL GIVES BACK” RETURNS AS PART OF “AMERICAN IDOL”

RESULTS SHOW WEDNESDAY, APRIL 21, ON FOX

Special to Benefit Children’s Health Fund, Feeding America, Malaria No More, Save the Children’s U.S. Programs and the United Nations Foundation

AMERICAN IDOL will once again host IDOL GIVES BACK, the Emmy Award-winning television event and musical celebration raising awareness and funds to benefit various U.S. and international charities, during the Top 7 Results Show Wednesday, April 21 (8:00-10:00 PM ET live/PT tape-delayed) on FOX. Children’s Health Fund, Feeding America, Malaria No More, Save the Children’s U.S. Programs and the United Nations Foundation are confirmed beneficiaries.

“I am very pleased to announce that we will be doing our third IDOL GIVES BACK on April 21, 2010,” said Simon Fuller, IDOL creator and CEO of 19 Entertainment. “This is our opportunity to reach out and support the people of America and around the world who need our compassion and generosity to improve or even save their lives. America will undoubtedly prove once again what a remarkable and generous nation it is. For AMERICAN IDOL to be able to facilitate this kind of initiative makes me very proud.”

“In today’s tough economic times, it’s more important than ever – but more difficult than ever – to raise money to help those in need,” said Mike Darnell, President of Alternative Entertainment, Fox Broadcasting Company. “With this year’s IDOL GIVES BACK, we’re focused on raising awareness about the challenges that so many children and families currently face and demonstrating how even small donations can make a difference and help save lives. Every little bit counts.”

“There’s never been a more important and appropriate time to give what we can to help those less fortunate,” said Cecile Frot-Coutaz, executive producer of AMERICAN IDOL. “We all have less to give, and we may not raise as much as in previous years, but with the power of the IDOL platform and the generosity of our viewers, we hope to extend a much-needed compassionate hand to those children and families who need us the most in these trying economic times.”

IDOL GIVES BACK has made history by raising over $140 million for charity to date. Viewers will once again be able to make donations during and following the show. In addition, the week’s voting results will be revealed, sending one of the finalists home.

The brainchild of Simon Fuller, this year’s special will feature performances and appearances by some of Hollywood’s biggest stars – as well as a few surprises – live from the AMERICAN IDOL stage. In previous years, IDOL GIVES BACK has welcomed President Barack Obama, British Prime Minister Gordon Brown, former President George W. Bush, Brad Pitt, Bono, Reese Witherspoon, Miley Cyrus, Eli Manning, Peyton Manning, Annie Lennox, Daughtry, Carrie Underwood, Mariah Carey, Gwen Stefani, Josh Groban, Pink, Céline Dion, Robin Williams, Ben Stiller and others.

Funds raised by the charity special will be distributed by the IDOL GIVES BACK Foundation to the following beneficiaries:

Children’s Health Fund (www.childrenshealthfund.org)

Founded in 1987 by singer/songwriter Paul Simon and pediatrician/advocate Irwin Redlener, MD, Children’s Health Fund (CHF) is the nation’s leading pediatric provider of mobile-based health care for homeless and low-income children and their families. CHF’s mission is to bring health care directly to those in need through the development and support of innovative medical programs, response to public health crises, and the promotion of guaranteed access to health care for all children. Teams of dedicated medical professionals in CHF’s 24 pediatric programs in 15 states and the District of Columbia have brought essential primary care services through more than 2 million patient visits.

Feeding America (www.feedingamerica.org)
Feeding America provides low-income individuals and families with the fuel to survive and even thrive. As the nation’s leading domestic hunger-relief charity, our network members supply food to more than 25 million Americans each year, including 9 million children and 3 million seniors. Serving the entire United States, more than 200 member food banks support 63,000 agencies that address hunger in all of its forms. Feeding America is headquartered in Chicago.

Malaria No More (www.malarianomore.org)

Malaria No More is determined to end malaria deaths in Africa. Every 30 seconds, a child in Africa dies of this preventable and treatable disease, but a simple mosquito net can save lives. Malaria No More leverages breakthrough communications, global advocacy and smart investments to reach its goal of providing universal access to malaria interventions by the end of 2010 and ending deaths by 2015. Through the support of IDOL GIVES BACK, Malaria No More has helped millions of families in Africa protect themselves from malaria in Uganda, Zambia, Angola, Madagascar, Mali, Nigeria and the Democratic Republic of the Congo. In addition, generous sponsorship of IDOL GIVES BACK from ExxonMobil helped Malaria No More strengthen country capacity and improve the delivery and use of malaria interventions in Africa. Together, we can make malaria no more.

Save the Children (www.savethechildren.org)

Save the Children is the leading independent organization creating real and lasting change for children in need in the United States and around the world. Save the Children’s U.S. Programs focus on underserved rural areas, where one in five children lives in poverty. Save the Children’s work in the United States also includes emergency preparedness, response and recovery. When a disaster strikes, Save the Children deploys trained teams to help displaced children and families and provide more secure environments. Three Idol favorites on one stage! Busy week in Idol News

Sunday, August 9th, 2009

David Cook, Adam Lambert and Kris Allen were the three headliners for the Good Morning America concert on Friday August 7. Check out some clips from their concert in NYC for the show!

BONUS! David Cook on Regis and Kelly

By Kate Blake

16500135RKC_Erika21200941544AMWe can’t not mention the biggest Idol news of the week- Paula Abdul will not be returning for season 8 of American Idol. Apparently the producers were not on the same page as Paula when it came to re-negotiating her contract with the series. Kara has been signed for another season, Simon’s contract was renewed and Randy is signed on through at least one more year. What does this mean? Here at The Entertainment Hotline we are hoping they forgo finding another judge and work with the three they have. The extra judge meant less time for the contestants and was one of the prime reason the show consistently ran over time wise last year. I love Paula but her horsing around with Simon was distracting and took time away from the show. If they don’t like the dynamic at the end of this year- look for replacement for Kara. I would love to see them bring in another performer- maybe an 80s pop icon who has moved into producing. Apparently they are making up for not having Paula on the road this summer by using guest judges for the auditions. They did this a couple of seasons back. I recall Mark McGrath stepping in and deciding quite emphatically that the judges on Idol deserve every penny they get. Something to think about Idol- Paula is the only judge who saw the potential from the get go in Adam Lambert, David Cook and never discounted Kelly Clarkson. I am not sure the rest of the panel is as tuned in to American tastes as Paula is. I would love to see Paula move on to some other project where she is valued for her talents and insights instead of being considered just part of the mix like she has been on Idol.

Idol’s Brooke White Readies for Album Release

Saturday, July 18th, 2009

Hard to believe, but American Idol judge Randy Jackson — despite incessantly trumpeting his music-producer cred on the show — has never 78184_Brooke_White_celebutopia.net_172_122_235locollaborated with an Idol alum — until now, that is.

Jackson has lent his talents to Season 7 fifth-place finisher Brooke White, whose debut album, High Hopes & Heartbreak, is out Tuesday, July 21. The pair also cofounded the indie label on which it will be released. “I’m very appreciative of Randy taking on this project and to have him on my team,” White tells TVGuide.com. “I don’t know why he’s working with me!”

The collaboration was not planned. White and Jackson ran into each other at a guitar store months after her Idol run had ended and started chatting. “We talked for over an hour. He was so nice. My husband was there and he talked to him too,” she says. “And then he said, ‘If there’s anything I can do to help you out, let me know,’ which I just thought he was saying to be nice.”

But a dawg of his word, Jackson did help White out a few months later — unsolicited — to work on the breezy, folksy and “California-style” tunes on Heartbreak. Jackson, the “sounding board,” hooked her up with producer Dave Cobb and gave her advice on every song. The duo, along with White’s manager, Carl Stubner, launched June Baby Records (White’s birthday is June 2) after the singer-songwriter concluded a major label wasn’t the right fit for her.

“It was the right decision and it felt good. Music is such a personal thing and now I’m attaching it to a business,” she says. I take my art, my love, and I attach it to record sales and all this stuff so that people know that it is there. I’m excited for people to hear it, but of course you get nervous. I’d like to say I don’t care what people think, but of course I do!”

White hopes to launch a tour soon in support of the album, possibly with fellow Season 7 finalist Michael Johns. The two have recorded a song together, “Life Is Okay,” and White is already looking to future duets — with another Idol grad.

“I’d love to duet with Kris [Allen],” she says. “He can call me up any time. It’ll be us and our guitars!”
