Local Talent To Tape Episodes On-Location In Their Hometown
CBS’s daytime drama AS THE WORLD TURNS is kicking off the “As The World Turns Never Surrender Tour” by holding open casting calls in three cities across the United States. Emmy-Award winning casting director Mary Clay Boland will audition aspiring actors in Philadelphia, Pittsburgh and Greenville, S.C. Ten locals will be selected to appear in upcoming episodes of AS THE WORLD TURNS that will be taped on-location in each city. Chosen actors will work with Michael Park (Detective “Jack Snyder”) as his character travels the country trying to make amends for a life-changing experience. Although beaten down by the turn of events, the audience has come to expect that he “never surrenders,” and will watch him grapple with his own guilt.
The screen test is open to men and women 18 years and older who are eligible to work in the United States. Those wishing to audition should bring a completed copy of the application and a signed release form, which are available online at each individual station’s Web site. Last night marked a great night for Days- for the first time in a very long time the NBC soap took home not one- but two Emmy awards. Cast members Darin Brooks who plays Max Brady and former cast member Tamara Braun who played Ava Vitale both took home awards for acting. Darin won for best younger actor and Tamara who is now on As the World Turns took home a best supporting actor award.
The last three pics have Tamara pictured with Rachel Melvin, Debbi Morgan and former astronaut Buzz Aldrin
Tamara spoke about being nominated in our red carpet summary video HERE. We have a cute bit of video with Darin here as he is posing with his award backstage. Days has been over the years overlooked time and again- congrats to both stars on their wins!
Jay and Shelley play lovers Stephanie and Phillip on DAYS- and both were at last night’s Daytime Emmy Awards. Both participated in the ceremonies as well. Jay and fellow cast member James Scott presented an award while Eric and Shelley danced together onstage as part of one of the night’s big production numbers.
On the red carpet- everyone looked great! Eric was joined by his former co-star Lindsay Hartley for a mini-Passions reunion. Could she be getting ready to join Days? Personally I would love to see Lindsay in prime time- her husband Justin Hartley has done very well making that transition as the Green Arrow on the CW’s Smallville. Of course- the boys from Passions Eric Martsolf and Galen Gering are doing very well after moving to Salem so we shall have to wait and see!

Expectant parents Kyle Lowder and Arianne Zuker were at the show- Kyle was onstage later as part of the cast of Bold and The Beautiful which took home the big prize of the night as Best Drama in Daytime
Suzanne Rogers completed the cast on the red carpet- looking lovely as always!

Here are the weekly preview and sneak for this week
Stefano and Nicole get caught in deep conversation by EJ. The queen bitch Kate’s machinations toward Chloe and Daniel come to a head- does anyone else HATE Kate? How she is allowed to get away with everything she does and isn’t in jail is beyond me. I really loved it in the 90s when Vivian managed to get Kate stuck on a fishing boat gutting fish for months on end. That was most satisfying.
