One for the Money – Promo Photos from the upcoming movie

Monday, December 26th, 2011

Movie stars Katherine Heigl as Stephanie Plum along with Jason O’Mara as her hunky sometimes boyfriend Joe Morelli and Daniel Sujata as the mysterious man in black Ranger. Debbie Reynolds is along for the ride as wacky Grandma Mazur. Haven’t read the Stephanie Plum books by Janet Evanovich? Head to Amazon and get in on the fun!

Movie opens January 2012. This is an action comedy with chick flick elements – but with the number of explosions per book there should be plenty for the guys to enjoy too.

Ides of March Review

Thursday, October 20th, 2011

Although I am a huge movie buff, I am especially disappointed in the films out lately and even more let down by their deceiving trailers. It’s like they show all the “good parts” in the preview and then leave nothing but fillers for the rest. Just when I begin to completely lose faith, I am surprised by “Ides of March.”

I am drawn to movies that make you think and “Ides of March” does just that. I am also drawn to movies that have great eye candy and “Ides of March” certainly fits that bill. George Clooney, as Governor Mike Morris and Ryan Gosling, as campaign staffer Stephen Meyers…need I say more?

The movie, which is set around an Ohio presidential primary (how fitting and timely) during which a scandal erupts, made me think a lot about how utterly attractive politicians (and their staffers) are. And how of course there is no politician out there that isn’t involved in a scandal.

Sure, the secrets that are revealed in the film are juicy, but the leading men are even juicier. Clooney and Gosling’s powerful confidence, which they appear to have in real life, is perfectly portrayed in this film. While they aren’t too bad on the eyes, the two men are made for these roles. Both take turns being aggressive and vulnerable, and each man’s emotions are completely believable. Plus, watching them made me realize how attractive a man in a suit can be. Just throwing that out there.

As the suspense in the movie builds, the true personalities of the characters emerge. I really enjoyed watching both Clooney and Gosling play more dynamic roles, which they appeared to be extremely comfortable in. I was able to connect to their seemingly authentic emotions and passion during heated scenes.

And it obviously goes without saying that I could not stop drooling when Ryan and George appeared in scenes together. Could there be any two hotter men in a room? The answer is no.

That being said, they were definitely not all looks. The way they conversed in the film and depicted that boss/employee relationship was on point, with all of the believable awkwardness and conflict that goes along with any secretive office situation.

While Clooney appeared in the movie less than I had previously expected, he played exactly the kind of Governor you would expect to see. He conveyed just the right amount of charm, cockiness and dishonesty that a political candidate is made of and for that I applaud him.

Ryan Gosling, however, was the real star. Like every other girl out there, I have been in love with Gosling ever since I first laid eyes on him in the “The Notebook.” I continue to be captivated by his performances (and his gorgeous smile).

Along with mystery and the unexpected twists and turns, there is always a romance. The steamy relationship between Ryan Gosling and Evan Rachel Wood, who plays intern Molly Stearns, is scandalous and sexy. After I stopped wishing I were Wood, I recognized the intense chemistry between the pair. Their relationship seemed effortless, but I guess that’s easy for any girl lucky enough to work with such a stud. The attraction, I’m sure, was very real.

Wood’s character is aggressive persistent and flirtatious. Her performance in this film is edgy and mature, showing just how much she has grown as an actress; once having played the role of a youthful teen in the movie “Thirteen” to the seductive role she plays now as a young woman. Her versatility when it comes to acting is truly impressive.

Before I continue on about how I can’t get enough of Ryan and George, let me say that Phillip Seymour Hoffman and Paul Giamatti made quite an impression as well. While I wasn’t drooling over these two, I did find myself disliking them immensely by the end, which means they were able to successfully show their characters’ true colors. I will not disclose why, but I do suggest you see for yourself.

All in all, I definitely recommend “Ides of March” for anyone who’s into the whole political drama/scandal type thing. My faith in Hollywood has been restored and I hope to see more quality movies like this hitting theaters soon. Suspense, romance, scandals, two Hollywood hotties…what else could you ask for?
