Barbie on the cusp of the big 5-0

If only we all were as self-confident as Barbie.

Just six months shy of turning the Big 5-0, the cultural icon is taking on some eye-opening new roles — scantily clad superhero and Dallas Cowboys cheerleader.

She’s also planning a wedding — with a Vera Wang gown, no less — and fit in a starring role in “Grease” in her free time.

She’s one busy gal, that Barbara Millicent Roberts, and unlike the rest of Americans facing that milestone birthday, she shows no signs of slowing down.

And while some may dismiss her as just another pretty face, for millions more she is more than just a friend — she’s a member of the family.

DC Comics Barbies September 2008 Wallcalendar Wallpaper

This summer Mattel and DC Comics have released a new addition to the Superheroes line with Black Canary. There has been a fair amount of controversy over the doll wearing vinyl and fishnets with people calling her “S & M Barbie”.

What critics do not realize is that this is what the screeching heroine wears in the comics.

Smallville introduced their version of Black Canary this winter with Alaina Huffman playing her. For those of you who don’t know who BC is -she is one of the older characters in the DC Universe and has recently married her love the Green Arrow. This season on Smallville Black Canary and Green Arrow will be teaming up in the first episode to rescue Clark Kent as the TV version of the Justice League teams up to fight bad guys.

Back in Business!

Greetings world!

After a two year absence- Southwest Fun Finds is back in business.

We will be posting a vast assortment of fashion dolls over the next few weeks. To start things off I have a few pink box collector dolls and some silkstone Barbie sets that will be going up for sale.

Next week I will start posting my backlog of colorful reroot custom Barbie dolls.
