Like previous seasons, How I Met Your Mother season 7 is all about getting these characters to the lives they’re living in the future. For Barney, that’s his bride. First of all, it sounds like it will soon be time to say goodbye to Kevin, as executive producer Craig Thomas has told TVLine that Robin’s soon going to realize “the waters don’t run as deep with Kevin as they do with Barney.” Now, if only she had realized that sooner rather than later, then perhaps she and Barney could’ve been back together all this time. But maybe they need these other relationships to get to the point where they’re ready to be together. It’s always possible that it’s Robin whom Barney is marrying, and the identity of that bride is coming in the season finale, which will also reveal another “hugething” when they return “to the future wedding day.” Now what could that be? Will it have to do with Ted’s own future?
Speaking of Ted, February is going to feature “Ted and Robin [questioning] their living arrangements” in “an episode where they literally do the five-year assessment off that one line in their breakup in Season 2.” That line was “Where do you see yourself in five years?” It is something they have to consider, and it is strange they’re still living together after breaking up. Could this episode be part of the push they need to make steps towards their futures?
