Diahann Carroll Interview about working on White Collar

Diahann Carroll participated in a conference call last week with the media- we have the transcript of that call here for you to read and enjoy.

I love that the first question asked was about her role in the infamous Star Wars Holiday Special where she sang. Fans also wanted to know if we will see her character June sing on White Collar- we will have to wait and see for that.

Nobody asked the other pop culture question- how does it feel knowing you were the black face of Barbie until the 1980s? Her face mold for the Julia doll first appeared in the 1960s and is one of the most beloved by collectors. Sorry- collector trivia just had to be inserted here. The doll was based on her TV character JULIA. Diahann had the honor of playing one of the first single working moms on TV in her 1960s series. Not only was she an educated African American woman but also a single mom at a time when everything was all about nuclear families- mainly white families. She is continuing to break molds on White Collar as a lovely society matron who has taken bad boy Neal Caffrey ( Matt Bomer) under her wing and her roof even. Read and enjoy!
