Note: Please check your local listings. I live in the Mountain time zone and the cable schedule is funky. Also, other than the pilot for Glee that premiered last spring, I have not watched the pilots for any of the new shows. My interest and excitement is based on promos, articles written, and the reviews of my favorite critics.
New Shows
Brothers (September 25th at 8pm)
I’m a football nut and have to watch how much time I spend on the couch watching games I don’t even care about. With the exception of Coach I haven’t really watched many football related shows. However, I’ve always had an appreciation for Daryl “Chill” Mitchell, especially after he came back from a motorcycle accident in November of 2001 that left him paralyzed from the waist down. Plus Michael Strahan was pretty amazing on Chuck last season.
Community (September 17th at 9:30pm)
At this point, I’ll watch anything Joel McHale is in. I love The Soup and his stand up that much. Chevy Chase and an amusing premise are just icing on the cake!
Glee (September 9th at 9pm)
I know many others have written this before me, but Glee makes me gleeful! The various promos and video releases have just made me even more excited for this show. Here’s hoping the show can live up to my expectations. That’s going to be a tall order, but I think the show is up to the task.
Returning Shows
So You Think You Can Dance (September 9th at 8pm)
I moved during the last weeks of the summer season and missed out on the excitement, so I’m looking forward to this fall run of the show. I’m just hoping other people aren’t feeling dancing show fatigue and ratings plummet.
Monday Night Football (September 14th at 8pm)
As I stated before, I’m a football nut. While I am a more avid watcher of college games, I’ve been watching Monday Night football since infancy. The opening games featuring the Buffalo Bills versus the New England Patriotsand the San Diego Chargers versus the Oakland Raiders don’t have an epic feel to them, but I’ll be watching anyway and most likely missing John Madden’s voice and screen scrawling.
How I Met Your Mother (September 21st at 8pm)
I would watch this show just for Neil Patrick Harris as Barney Stinson. I’m looking forward to the full-time return of Allison Hannigan and Cobie Smulders after their maternity leaves. I missed them last spring. Plus I think we might finally get to meet the mother!
Big Bang Theory (September 21st at 9:30pm)
This show keeps getting better and better and the pictures of the guys sporting beards cracks me up even without an explanation. I crack up laughing every episode and it’ll be good to have the guys back from the arctic!
Castle (September 21st at 10pm)
Nathan Fillion is simply brilliant on this show and I like all of the secondary characters. Oh and the mysteries are usually pretty interesting and I can’t wait to learn more about the death of Beckett’s mother. What more can you ask for??
Numb3rs (September 25th at 10pm)
I honestly don’t remember what happened at the end of last season. However, I’ve been watching this show for the last 5 years and I can’t come up with any reason to stop now. I’ve grown attached to the Epps brothers and their family and friends.
Dirty Jobs (October 6th at 9pm)
Mike Rowe is my hero. That is all.
30 Rock (October 15th at 9:30pm)
This comedy keeps getting better and better. I can’t wait to see what Tina Fey does this year and who guest stars. Plus I miss Kenneth the Page
Southland (October 23rd at 9pm)
I’m not usually a fan of this type of show, but I found myself sucked in last season. The characters are layered and absolutely fascinating. Besides, the finale was simply awesome. I will also watch Ben McKenzie in anything. My love of The O.C. extends that far.
Winter Shows
Leverage (January 13th at 10pm)
The summer run of this show has been a disappointment, so I’m hoping the winter episodes mark the return of the show I fell in love with last year. No matter what, I will watch for Christian Kane’s hair.
Pysch (Winter 2010)
This show is just fun and I look forward to it every week. I described the premiere as candy and I stick by that. It’s a sweet treat, but with little nutritional value.
Important Things with Demetri Martin (Winter 2010)
The seven episodes of this stream-of-consciousness show that aired last year weren’t nearly enough. If Flight of the Conchords is really gone for good, I’m going to need Mr. Martin to try and fill the hole.

Michal- Great list! I too am looking forward to Community-I am still in search of that next great comedy…..I need to snag the DVDs for The Big Bang Theory and get caught up- every epi I have seen I have liked.
We are already confimed Gleeks and I can’t wait for the season premeire on Weds! Erika got to see it at Comic Con and she can’t wait to see it again…..
Thanks! I have a lot of hope that Community will become a great comedy. You should really check out all of Big Bang Theory. I started watching it because I was lazy and it came on after How I Met Your Mother. However, it’s become my favorite of the two shows.
I can’t wait for Glee tomorrow. I’ve bought all of the singles on iTunes! I can’t wait for the soundtracks to start coming out!!
I agree with most of what you have written – EXCEPT for the blurb about Leverage. Although watching Christian Kane in anything would cause me to tune in, the summer episodes were very well done. I jut read an article called “10 Things Leverage Taught Us”, unfortunately I don’t remember site name….but it really brought the whole premise of the plots and characters together.
I will watch Ben Mckenzie in anything because my love for him goes that far. I even own a copy of 88 minutes just so I can catch a glimps of the guy. However, Southland is really wonderful and I have a new found love for Micheal Cudlitz to show for it.
absolutecute: Thanks for the article suggestion. I’ll try and track it down. My main issue with the episodes this season have been the focus on Sophie. I’m not all that interested in her. I’d much rather watch Eliot, Hardison, and Parker and so I’ve found the Sophie push this summer to be annoying. That said, I still like the show, I’m just not as enamored at the moment.
mrs. robinson: Glad to hear I’m not the only one that watches things for Mr. McKenzie! I have to agree that Micheal Cudlitz’s subtle and nuanced performance is a thing of beauty. I can’t say enough good things about the show!
