ICE ROAD TRUCKERS hauls in 3 million total viewers

New York, June 2, 2009 – HISTORY notches a blockbuster night on Sunday, May 31 with two major premieres – the third-season return of ICE ROAD TRUCKERS and the series launch of EXPEDITION AFRICA. The two premiered back to back on Sunday – ICE ROAD TRUCKERS at 9pm ET and EXPEDITION at 10pm ET.
The much-anticipated return of ICE ROAD TRUCKERS was watched by 3 million total viewers, 1.9 million Adults 25-54 and 1.7 million Adults 18-49 (+19% and 13% respectively vs Season 2). In Season 3, veteran fan favorites as well as new truckers join the network’s #1 series as it heads to Alaska, north of the Arctic Circle – where the elite truckers face their most perilous, death-defying journey yet. ICE ROAD TRUCKERS airs Sundays at 9pm ET/PT.
EXPEDITION AFRICA, which will run for eight weeks on HISTORY, launched with a strong 1.3 million total viewers, 723,000 Adults 25-54 – which is a 19% increase versus network’s prime average – as well as 640,000 Adults 18-49, up 15%. The new series follows four intrepid explorers as they retrace journalist Henry Morton Stanley’s 19th-century trek through Africa in search of Dr. David Livingstone. EXPEDITION AFRICA airs Sundays at 10pm ET/PT.
