The Beast with Patrick Swayze premiered last week with great ratings- 2.397 Million viewers which is very good for a cable series premiere. LOS ANGELES (Reuters) – “Dirty Dancing” star Patrick Swayze, who has said he might have only two years to live because of pancreatic cancer, will write a memoir with his wife, his spokeswoman said on Friday.
Swayze and his wife, Lisa Niemi, have not named a publisher or set a release date but Swayze’s representative, Annett Wolf, confirmed that the actor and Niemi are working on a book.
Swayze, 56, told Barbara Walters in a lengthy TV interview earlier this month that he was “going through hell” because of his year long battle with pancreatic cancer — one of the most virulent and deadly forms of the disease.
He said he looking at possibly two more years to live but denied reports that he was near death.
The actor was released on January 16 from a weeklong stay at a hospital, where he was treated for pneumonia.
Texas-born Swayze has enjoyed a storied career in Hollywood and on Broadway, most recently starring as a rogue FBI agent in the U.S. TV crime drama “The Beast”, which he shot after his cancer diagnosis.
The son of a choreographer and dance school owner named Patsy Swayze, he studied dancing at New York ballet schools. Lisa Niemi was a student at his mother’s dance school in Houston. They married in 1975.
He played dance instructor Johnny Castle in the hit 1987 movie “Dirty Dancing,” and in 1990 he starred in the blockbuster supernatural romance movie “Ghost” opposite Demi Moore.
