Californication- Season 3 Press Release

CALIFORNICATION GOES ALL THE WAY

Series Star & Executive Producer David Duchovny & Co. Resume Production Next Spring on Season Three’s 12 Episodes

LOS ANGELES, CA – (December 3, 2008) – It’s back to bed for SHOWTIME with the 3rd season pick-up of the Golden Globe® Award-winning comedy series CALIFORNICATION, it was announced today by Robert Greenblatt, SHOWTIME President of Entertainment. Series star and executive producer David Duchovny, who won a Golden Globe® Award for his work as ‘Hank Moody,’ a novelist with weaknesses for sex, drugs, and rock ‘n roll, will resume production next spring on 12 episodes for a late 2009 premiere. Series creator and Executive Producer Tom Kapinos helms the production that also stars Natascha McElhone (“Laurel Canyon”) and Evan Handler (“Sex and the City”).

The series, which was nominated earlier this year for a Golden Globe® Award for “Best Television Series, Musical or Comedy” and won an Emmy® Award for “Outstanding Cinematography for a Half-Hour Series,” centers around the unique and sophisticated world of Hank Moody, a hedonistic novelist/blogger who struggles to raise his Goth-loving teenaged daughter (Madeleine Martin), while still carrying a torch for his disapproving ex-girlfriend Karen (Natascha McElhone). His unapologetic obsession with truth-telling and self-destructive behavior complicates every aspect of his life.

“It wouldn’t be SHOWTIME without a yearly dose of CALIFORNICATION,” says Greenblatt. “This unapologetic show, about a group of characters led by the inimitable David Duchovny, has quickly established itself as one of our signature comedy series. Beneath its veneer of debauchery, however, is a complex take on love and adult relationships that surprisingly turns poetic and romantic just when you least expect it. ”

“I love working with SHOWTIME, Tom Kapinos, and the cast,” says Duchovny. “We all have such creative freedom and support, it’s been a peak experience, and I am so happy to be doing the show.”

Duchovny is best known to millions of fans for his work as Agent Fox Mulder on the long-running cult classic television series, “The X Files,” a role for which he earned a Golden Globe® Award and was nominated for an Emmy®. He also received Emmy® nominations for guest appearances on “The Larry Sanders Show” and “Sex and the City.” He is a three-time Golden Globe® and SAG Award nominee. Recent film credits include last summer’s hit film “The X Files: I Want to Believe” opposite Gillian Anderson; “Things We Lost in the Fire” opposite Halle Berry and Benicio del Toro; Jake Kasdan’s “The TV Set”; “Trust the Man” and “Evolution,” both opposite Julianne Moore; and “Return to Me,” co-starring Minnie Driver.

as a “six feet under” lover’ with a taste for shows with a real live message under the production ‘ this is one amazing show. although its a fantasy that looks a mik miles awat its realistic and approching to all. hat off to the writers for a touching story of love and life in the making’ with a twist. also to the actors, espacially David Duchovny and Natascha McElhone for a heart worming act. im itching for season 3…

its a more adult version of Entourage, yet appeals to kids very well too. a lot more love in it than Entourage, while less actual parties. lots of smoking, drinking, and girls. Entourage, Weeds, and Californication are all at the top of the list.

i know its a bit corny question, but does anybody know if Karen is going to be a big part of season 3, or she moves to NY and just is going to be a referred character?

I would like her to still have a big role in the series, but at the same time its good that Hank gets som space in LA, so he doesnt have to worry that much about his lost love! :)

Wouldn’t be the same without Karen’s judging eyes. Hank is Hank because he can’t have her if he cant keep it zipped. He knows he cant keep it zipped. His daughter knews he cant keep it zipped and yet they all try anyway. Tragic love all the way around.

And of course every guy watching wants to grudge-f%$k Mia. She has to come back.

LOVE this show, and I was wondering the same thing, if Karen living in NY will give her time to heal in her personal life. As they wre shooting season 2, she found out her plastic surgeon husband died suddenly at 45…and she still filmed and wrapped the season up…now THAT’S an actress!

thought the ending to season two was weak. Crazy how the show just wrote off lew ashby like nothing. no one in the show even shed a tear over that guy. Loved the first season and the couldnt stop watching the second season, but what else do they have to explore at this point?

Californication one of the best show ever on TV i got the all the eps

  • 16 May 2009 | Permalink |

reason why no one cried over ashby is because he had no friends.. at the end of the day after all the sex drugs parties.. he had no one left..

but they showed that little scene where hank and ashby were talking after hank finished his biography. that part was very meaningful. the story of both of them didnt require the show to have a funeral for ashby. and have lots of people there crying for him. it was just hank and ashby that were buddies that had to say goodbye to each other. simple as that!
